Richard DeSanti

Richard DeSanti is Chevron’s Chief Environmental & Safety Counsel.  He leads a 23-lawyer Environmental & Safety Law Group that provides advice across Chevron’s businesses in the U.S. and worldwide.  Mr. DeSanti has been an environmental and safety lawyer for more than 30 years.  He joined Chevron in 2011

Prior to joining Chevron, Mr. DeSanti was at Exxon Mobil Corporation for 12 years (most recently as Coordinating Counsel for Global Environmental Policy) and at Mobil Corporation for 11 years (most recently as Managing Counsel – Environmental, Health & Safety).  Before joining the oil and gas industry he was in private practice at Covington & Burling in Washington, DC and clerked for Chief Judge Spottswood W. Robinson, III on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.  

Mr. DeSanti’s law degree is from Boston University, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.  While working on his J.D. he also obtained a master’s degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  His B.A. is from Boston University.
